The Book Proposal Incubator is designed to help you get unstuck, hone your idea, and create a proposal that will stand out with agents and editors. You will learn how to avoid common pitfalls and mistakes, and create a proposal that sells you and your book.

Classes are small and limited to six students and include individual feedback, worksheets, templates encouragement and advice.

Class is taught by bestselling author Sara Bliss along with guest speakers—agents, editors and authors.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

  • 8 Live Virtual Classes

    Each live virtual course is 90 minutes long and taught over Zoom. The Incubator is designed to teach you everything you need to know so you can draft a complete 30-50 page proposal in just 9 weeks.

  • Expert Instruction

    The course is created and taught by Sara Bliss, a bestselling writer who has helped dozens of authors and celebrities write non-fiction book proposals that publishers fight over. She has written over 11 books including self-help, business, design, wellness, travel and beauty for top publishers including Gallery Books, Clarkson Potter, Assouline, Chronicle Books and more.

  • Interactive Teaching

    Live classes include instruction, discussion, peer review, and Q&A. The course will include assignments, worksheets, templates, insights, case studies and industry guest speakers.

  • Industry Experts

    Expert speakers include:

    A first-time author who used Sara’s formula to sell a proposal to a top publisher.

    A top non-fiction literary agent.

    A non-fiction editor at a major publisher.

    All will share insights into the publishing process, what sells, what doesn’t and how to successfully sell your proposal.

  • Deadlines

    Every writer needs deadlines and accountability to keep moving forward. To stay on track, students will receive weekly homework, worksheets and feedback on assignments.

  • Feedback

    Sara reviews each assignment, providing helpful advice, tips, and insight. Each assignment is based on a different section of the proposal, so she will offer advice on each section of your proposal.
